About Astraios

Astraios is a network of chamber musicians committed to interaction between musicians and audience members as a way of enhancing creativity and the musical experience.

We believe that the audience is part of the performance! Astraios concerts are high-caliber performances presented in an informal manner.  Our events include audience activities as we explore new pieces and old favorites from the chamber music repertoire.

Astraios was founded in 2007 and has presented concerts in Colorado, Texas and Virginia. Our programs have included a concert on music and religion at a Benedictine Abbey; a program on music and healing given as a fundraiser for a cancer center; and a recital of nature sounds given in conjunction with a nature hike in the mountains of Colorado.

If you are interested in bringing Astraios to your part of the world, please contact us. We are happy to tailor our concerts and workshops to your group’s interests. New projects are in development all the time and we welcome your ideas about what you would like to see.

In Greek mythology, Astraios (Uh-stry’-ohs) was the father of the four winds.  His name translates to “dawn of the stars.”

Here’s what some of our previous audiences have said about Astraios events:

“As a non-musician (but avid listener) this was a most enriching experience. The personal contact added so much to the enjoyment. Any information was appreciated and added to my understanding. […] Absolutely exquisite!”

“I think this would appeal to many audiences, both non-musicians and musicians.”

“I am absolutely swept away by the beauty and perfection of your performance!  I love the way you also educate the audience.  Thank you for a marvelous afternoon!”

[…] accessible […] responsive […] informative […] enthusiastic.”
